Teaching Assistants

Darcy Hendy and Maia McCarthy

Darcy and Maia both began dancing at the Weald School of Dance at three years of age. Darcy is preparing to take her Grade 7 RAD Ballet exam and also takes our senior Jazz class while Maia is preparing to take her Grade 5 RAD Ballet, ISTD Tap and ISTD Modern exams.

Both Maia and Darcy are a wonderful inspiration to our younger students and are fantastic with the children. We are very lucky to have them helping with our Budding Ballet Dancers and Pre primaries and they set a wonderful example to our littlest dancers.

“I would highly recommend the Weald School of Dance. Miss Kiki is an exceptional teacher, with her soft, gentle approach and enthusiastic professional manner, she brings the absolute best out of every student from baby ballet right through to adult. My daughter has now been taught by Miss Kiki for 10 years and has loved every single minute! She especially enjoys working towards the next Big Show!”

About the Weald School of Dance

Established for over 50 years, the Weald School of Dance has shaped, guided and inspired hundreds of students to fulfil their dance potential.

Founded in 1968 by Carole Gould LRAD, the dance school developed a reputation as a highly regarded Royal Academy of Dance (RAD)-accredited ballet school.

In 2008, Carole was joined by established dance teacher Kiki Bradstock RAD RTS ISTD DDE. Together the pair expanded the dance school’s offering, adding Tap, Modern and Jazz to the timetable, in addition to Ballet.

In 2008 Miss Kiki choreographed the first school dance show. Twelve shows and hundreds of fantastic exam results later, Miss Kiki took on the role of Principal following Carole’s retirement in 2023.

Why choose us?

At the Weald School of Dance, we are very proud of our dance school and constantly strive to offer the very best in dance education.

We offer a wide range of Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz classes for all ages and abilities. Our students are given the chance to take internationally recognised dance exams, as well as gain valuable performance experience.

We have a real passion for what we do and an interest in each pupil as an individual. We are a welcoming and friendly school and the training our students receive is exceptional.

A number of pupils who trained with us have gone on to study Dance at professional colleges and universities. They have then been successful in a range of careers in the dance world, becoming professional dancers, dance teachers and choreographers.

Recognised Teaching Qualifications

All our teachers are fully qualified in accordance with leading industry regulatory bodies RAD and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). We train our students using the most current teaching methods and consider continual professional development (CPD) vital in order to keep up to date with the Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz syllabi we follow.

The RAD and ISTD both require teachers to have completed rigorous dance and teacher training before they are able to enter candidates for exams. For students taking dance exams, this ensures they are trained and examined to a high standard and results are well earned.

The RAD also requires teachers to complete a set amount of CPD hours each year in order to maintain Registered Teacher Status.
